VMs: RE: MY offer for the Mailing List
If what you're looking for is simply a home for an
e-mail site, I could guarantee that my address
would be available for three years. I think
however that the VMS List has gone somewhat beyond
that, and needs its own site.
I have discussed the situation with my friend at
GlobalSpace Solutions, and he has agreed to lock
up the registration of www.voynich.net until
Friday evening, pending our purchase of the name
and the site. Unless someone steps forward with
major complaints against a site owned and managed
by Jim Gillogly and a board of directors, this
transaction will occur, and the title
www.voynich.net will be attached to a very large
500mb space and an endless mailing list, as my
minor contribution to the VMS.
Since I notice that Reeds and Gillogly are having
relocation problems, as well as Rene, (I've just
listed three of the five board members right
there), I hope you accept my contribution to the
problem. These ascii holdouts will probably
benefit from some inside help in site design,
something with frames perhaps, and a better layout
for the ascii files? Just my opinion, but I think
they could use the help of an interior FrontPage
decorator. :-)
If you feel I've reacted too quickly on Jim's
favorable response, you should know that the
moment I saw the post of names like
www.voynich.net, I knew they wouldn't be available
tomorrow, and felt I had to do something to
preserve a direct link to our studies. Whatever
use you finally put it to, I believe I'm committed
to this contribution, and I hope it gives VMS
studies a slightly better focus and direction
toward the future.
