Hi everyone,

Giovanni Fontana is also credited with having originated (in 1420) the modern maze:-

By way of background: the rise of humanism in Italy 1400-1500 saw a huge general increase in interest in the ancient labyrinths of Crete, Egypt, Greece and Rome (but technically labyrinths were unicursal, whereas mazes are multicursal).

Seeing as I live near Hampton Court Palace, I feel I ought to at least point this out. :-)
