that the characters might be identified by the number "name" (ie o for one,
t for two, r for three, f for four, etc). Once I had the above list I
plugged the letter scheme I came up with into Robert's list of numbers...and
some of them seem to make sense.

put in some of the EVA characters, along with the sound the letter
translates as based on my interpretation. #1 and #9 end up the same between
yours and mine:

It's probably just me being dense, but I'm not following
the above at all. Sorry, let me grab my Voynich for Dummies,
and you can explain. : )

out Starry night for late December 1514 (ie the 27th). The Moon and Jupiter
both appear correctly, and it seems to fit 68r3 and 68r2.

I looked at 27 December 1514, but do not agree it fits the diagram.
The planet is below the Moon on 68r2, and was above it on that date.
Also, the Moon is occulting the Hyades, not the Pleiades.

And on another matter:

You probably noticed this and rejected it, but I finally found a
name for Aldebaran in Star Names that fits the lable on f68r3:
Taschter. The 'ch' would have one letter, but the others fit,
including the repeated letter.

Using those letter-values, the lable on the Pleiades is: Tse_s.

Robert
