Fully aware of his genius, Leonardo's father sent him and his drawings to
his friend, the sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio, who invited him in his
workshop, in Florence. Leonardo begun his apprenticeship in 1464 or 1469: he
was 12 to 17 years old.
