Thanks - that was light years ago!

But "supposedly" is the key word here, which should be typed in
bold and underlined. From what I have been able to find out,
he got land estates from Rozmberk - not from Rudolf. Actually,
very little is known for sure as it all comes from 19th c.
Czech amateur historians who did not quote their sources.
The only case of proved contact of Rudolf with Kelley is
a letter quoted by Evans (Rudolf II and his world) in which
he asked Rozmberk to send Kelley to Prague because he needed
an expert to help with an alchemical operation they were
carrying out in the castle laboratory.
This shows how highly regarded his skills were - both by Rozmberk
and Rudolf. In such situation it would have been absurd
on his part to waste time producing something like the VMS
if he was paid a lot for just supervising alchemical operations
and giving advice. He got several villages and an enormous
house in Prague just for that - worth many, many times more
than the 600 ducats.

I am not sure - there are a few drawings in Dee's manuscripts,
some of which might have been drawn by Kelley. But they are
nothing similar to the VMS.

Certainly d'Imperio _The Voynich Manuscript - An Elegant Enigma_
is still the best summary. Concerning the Dee/Kelley hypothesis you may
have a look at my on-line article:

Best regards,
Rafal
